Whether your pregnancy was planned or not, parenting can seem quite challenging, especially for first time moms and dads. If you decide to choose parenting, we are here to support you on your journey and provide you with many of the important resources you will need along the way.
Single Parenting
When you are faced with decisions involving an unplanned pregnancy, there are no easy choices. At Bella, we are committed to providing complete and accurate information on your options.
Parenting is a huge but rewarding responsibility. To choose to parent is to invest fully in another person’s life.
Most find parenting an even bigger blessing than they initially thought it would be, but they can also find it more challenging than they imagined.
As with any life-changing decision, you must ask yourself several questions:
- Do I have an adequate support system to raise this child?
- Do I have the resources to support a child financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually?
- Could I balance raising a child and a job and/or school at the same time?
- What are my personal life goals, and how would a child fit into that plan?
- Am I willing to learn what it takes to be a good parent?
- Am I willing to make all the necessary sacrifices to be the best mom my baby can have?
At Bella, we provide parenting classes, life-skills classes, and material assistance to those who decide to parent their child. We will help you become prepared and confident in your parenting abilities.
Co-Parenting
Many couples choose to co-parent their children. This may look different for different couples. Some may marry or live together and co-parent; others may maintain their relationship and live apart. Still others may not continue their relationship with each other, but both choose to be active parents in their child’s life.
Whatever your situation, Bella is here to help you navigate the challenges that can arise as you co-parent your child.
Marriage & Co-Parenting
Those in an unplanned pregnancy often think about marriage. Before you make this life-long commitment, there are some questions you need to ask:
-
- At this time in my life, do I know what it takes to be a good husband or wife?
- Would we be getting married if I was not pregnant?
- Do we have similar values and goals?
- Do I want to marry to escape a bad situation?
- Are we ready to commit our lives to each other and our baby?
Marriage may or may not be the solution to this problem. It may, in fact, create problems. Being married to the wrong person can be much worse than not being married. Take the time to talk about it…Bella is here to listen and provide you with information that can help empower you to make decisions that are right for you.
Bella can also refer you to local ministers who will provide pre-marital counseling free of charge.
